III Einstein International Healthcare Simulation Symposium

The third edition of the Einstein International Healthcare Simulation Symposium will address important aspects for healthcare professionals and undergraduate students training, such as Debriefing, Telesimulation, Speed Mentoring in Management and RCPD techniques, among other topics when professionals – whose teaching methods are based on simulation – will discuss best practices, trends and experiences based on this practice.

The event will have the presence of renowned national and international guests, who experience health simulation in their daily activities and will discuss about current simulation practices in Brazil and abroad.

Adam Montagu

Prof. Adam Montagu is Director of Adelaide Health Simulation (AHS) at The University of Adelaide (Australia). AHS is an accredited simulation centre with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in Teaching and Education. Adam is a Registered Nurse, an Education Specialist within the Adelaide Education Academy and leads one of the most advanced healthcare simulation facilities in the APAC region.

Join Adam to explore how B-line Medical Enterprise enables Adam and his team to deliver SBE and OSCE assessment to thousands of learners, accrediting bodies and specialist medical colleges in this supersized multi-campus modern simulation facility.

Alexandre Holthausen

Postdoctoral degree from the University of Atlanta-Morehouse School of Medicine. Phd in Medicine from the Federal University of São Paulo. He is currently the Director of Teaching at the Albert Einstein Israeli Hospital. Experience in Medical Education in the area of General Biology, with emphasis on Cellular and Molecular Biology, working mainly on the following topics: mesangial cell biology and vascular smooth musculature.

Dario Cecilio Fernandes

Dario holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology; and a PhD from Groningen University, Netherlands, in which he investigated the process of acquiring and retaining medical knowledge and skills.
He is a researcher in the Medical Psychology and Psychiatry Department at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, where he takes part in two projects: the first one called 'Jovem Pesquisador' (Young Scientist) on Healthcare Education and the second one on Regular COVID-19 using simulation.
He has been developing research in Healthcare Education with a focus on understanding cognitive processes and how we can use cognitive psychology to improve teaching.
He is currently president of the Associação Brasileira de Simulação (Abrassim - Brazilian Simulation Association) and a member of ASPIRE assessors on the AMEE Technology Enhanced Learning committee.
In addition, he is an associate editor of BMC Medical Education and Scientia Medica.

Francisco Maio Matos

Anesthesiology consultant at the Hospital and University Center of Coimbra and guest assistant at the University of Beira interior.
At the CHUC Simulation Center, he implemented multiple national and international pre- and postgraduate simulation programs.
At the Coimbra Hospital and University Center (CHUC), he is also President of the Quality and Patient Safety Commission, Director of the Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Unit.
He is the Portuguese representative on the Council of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.
President of SPSim (Portuguese Society of Simulation Applied to Health Sciences) from 2011 to 2017.
Vice-president of SESAM (Society for Simulation in Europe) from 2018 to 2021 and president-elect since 2021.

Gary L. Geis

Dr. Gary Geis is a professor of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati and a physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
He is the Medical Director of the Center for Simulation and Research, as well as the director of the Fellowship Program in Medical Simulation.
His research interests include pediatric resuscitation, airway management, systems integration and staff training.
Dr. Geis completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati, Pediatric Residency Training Program at the Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia, and a Fellowship Program in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center.

Helmgton J. B. Souza

He received his medical degree (M.D.) from the Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia (UFBA) and his PhD in Science from the UNIFESP/EPM.
Full member of the Brazilian Society for Cardiovascular Surgery (SBCCV, in Portuguese).
Instructor and coordinator of the Realistic simulation Centers of UNICEPLAC and UNIEURO (DF).
Consultant at Grupo CEUMA for Realistic Simulation.
Author of the book entitled " MANUAL DE SIMULAÇÃO REALÍSTICA" (REALISTIC SIMULATION HANDBOOK)

Henrique Pierotti Arantes

Joyce Kelly Barreto Silva

Working as Manager at Albert Einstein Simulation Center, she holds a bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública and an Intensive Care Specialization degree from Universidade Federal de São Paulo.
Besides being a certified professional in Health Management by INSPER, she is currently attending a Master’s Program on Healthcare Education from Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein. ABRASSIM, SSH and SESAM member.

Peter Dieckman

Dr. Peter Dieckmann is work and organisational psychologist, working as senior scientist with the Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES), as Professor of Healthcare Education and Patient Safety with the University of Stavanger and Associate Professor with the University of Copenhagen. His research and development interest lies in the analysis and optimization of the interplay of humans, technology, and organisation in the interest of patient safety and quality of care. He published 70 journal articles, and 40 book chapters. He is past president of the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine.

Peter Dieckmann holds a professorship with the university of Stavanger that is financed by an unconditional grant of the Laerdal foundation to the university. Peter leads the EuSim group, a network of simulation experts and centres, providing simulation faculty development programmes.

Roger Daglius Dias

Dr. Roger is a physician and a researcher. He is also an Instructor in Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of Research & Innovation at the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Roger is the founder and director of the Human Factors & Cognitive Engineering Laboratory at the same institution.

Sidney Klajner

President of Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein.
Sidney Klajner is a Digestive Surgeon. He has a degree in Medicine and a Master's Degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, a medical residency from the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP, fellow of American College of Surgeons. President of Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Albert Einstein.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Instituto Coalizão Saúde and of the Higher Council of Health Management - managed by the State Secretary of Health of São Paulo, as well as Professor of the Executive MBA in Health Management at Einstein, in the discipline “The Health Market in Brazil and in the World: Structure and strategies ”. He is co-author of the book “A Digital Revolution in Health” (Editora dos Editores, 2019), a work in which he investigates the impact of new technologies in medicine and in several aspects of health, such as assistance, management, quality and sustainability of the system.

Thomaz Bittencourt Couto

Pediatric emergency physician. Dr. Thomaz holds a master' degree and a PhD in Science from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo.
MBA in Health Management from the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein.
Professor of Medicine at the Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein.
Physician at the Realistic Simulation Center of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. Assistant Physician in the Emergency Room of the Instituto da Criança, Hospital das Clínicas, FMUSP.
Certified as an Advanced Instructor in Health Simulation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (CHSE-A).
